Motiv8

Get involved in decisions that shape your future in your neighbourhood.

The Motiv8 project aims to develop the next generation of young community leaders and activists in Wakefield. We welcome young people from different cultures, faiths and backgrounds to come and get involved.

Open to 14-19 year olds the Motiv8 project seeks to give young people the opportunity to develop transferable skills and positive social networks. As part of the leadership programme young people will complete first aid courses, youth/ sport leadership training, budgeting, public speaking, risk assessment, health and safety training and anti-bullying courses to name a few.

Our short term goals are to increase the number and frequency of activities in the area for young people and so far we are doing just that! Our facilities at Lightwaves provide excellent spaces for engaging with young people in a non-judgmental, welcoming environment.

The programme had great success to date with participants moving on to employment within social services, roles in volunteering, college and university.

To continue this positive impact we are training more young people who will go on to mentor younger peers, be active role models and community leaders so that support and activities can be maintained.

So, if you’re between 14 – 19yrs and see yourself as one of tomorrow’s leaders, come and see us!
